HOW I LIVE UNITED

HI, MY NAME IS DR. STEVE PARIS
I am very happy to be the Chair of the 2008 Heritage United Way Campaign. I accepted this role after spending the last two years as part of a team of volunteers who spent over 4,000 hours developing and implementing our Community Impact investment model. This more strategic method of funding agency programs is focused on the critical needs of our community--Education and Lifelong Learning, Health and Wellness and Housing and Economic Self-Sufficiency.

In addition, it was determined that the following requirements are met when United Way volunteers decide where to invest your hard-earned dollars:
  • program(s) has a significant impact on the community
  • program(s) creates partnerships between agencies that reduce program redundancy and ensure that dollars are directed to those who need the most help
  • program(s) allows for consistent reporting in order to evaluate progress on reaching goals
Our 2007 Campaign raised over $3.5 million in the eighteen communities Heritage United Way serves. We funded forty-two community programs within our three investment areas and through other targeted initiatives.

As we enter the 2008 Campaign, Heritage United Way is uniquely positioned as the one organization that has the broadest view of our communities' most pressing needs. Please join me in making an investment in our community. That's how I LIVE UNITED. Sincerely,

Dr. Steven Paris
