HOW I LIVE UNITED

MY NAME IS BETH ROBERTS
and I am proud to be the Chair of the 2010 United Way Campaign. I look forward to another exciting year and would like to congratulate the 2009 Campaign Chair, Alex Walker of Devine, Millimet & Branch, and his team on their historic effort last year raising the most money in United Way's 72-year history! I know we can build upon the momentum of the 2009 Campaign, LIVE UNITED and lead our team to victory yet again.

This is not something we can do alone. You, too, can LIVE UNITED by investing in or volunteering with United Way. There are many people in our community who need our help. Too many are struggling day after day to provide for themselves and those who need them, to stay healthy and to remain in their homes.

We need you, our valued donors and volunteers, now more than ever, to commit to working with us as we raise the necessary resources to help thousands of deserving children, families and individuals in our communities to receive the support and assistance they need through vital programming in the areas of Education and Lifelong Learning, Health and Wellness and Housing and Economic Self-Sufficiency. Help us to help them lead promising, self-sufficient lives.

Here is a snapshot of the organization's accomplishments in 2009:

  • More than 500 local businesses and organizations supported United Way.
  • More than 475 individuals contributed at the leadership level (gifts of $1,000 or more).
  • 75 volunteers spent more than 4,000 hours reviewing the program requests that were submitted to United Way as part of their innovative Community Impact funding strategy.
  • More than 550 volunteers from 52 companies participated in the 2009 Day of Caring.

And... United Way raised over $3.7 million in 2009.

Not sure how to get involved? You can run or continue to run an employee campaign, make a corporate or personal gift, volunteer with our campaign or on one of our Community Review Teams or participate in our Day of Caring on September 15th!

I know we can count on your generosity. We are fortunate to be a part of a community that knows how to bring together their time, talent and treasure to better the places we live and work. Together we will provide lasting change that will have a positive impact on the lives of others for years to come.

I am proud to be a part of this movement. Please join me!

Sincerely,

Beth A. Roberts, Vice President
