
2009 Project Homeless Connect A Success!

Heritage United Way, The Manchester Continuum of Care, the City of Manchester,
NH Housing and Finance Authority and St. Joseph Cathedral held a successful
Project Homeless Connect on Thursday, December 3rd.
This annual day of one-stop access for those who are homeless or at risk of
becoming homeless provides a variety of services for individuals including
medical/healthcare screenings and referrals, substance abuse services,
employment services and opportunities, shelter and housing resources,
domestic violence counseling, mental health services, the ability to make a
phone call, a warm meal and warm clothing.
At this year's event, approximately 125 individuals attended.
• All were served lunch
• 100's of sets of warm clothing items were given out
• 48 got haircuts
• 17 received employment counseling and information on follow up appointment
• 5 sought domestic violence assistance/potential intake
• 15 completed applications for a variety of Department of Health & Human Service programs
• 13 received care from Dartmouth Hitchcock Podiatry services
• 11 intakes were done for Manchester’s Healthcare for the Homeless program
• 8 received flu shots
• 100 had discussions w/ the healthcare team/received individualized case management
• 23 individuals were introduced to 2-1-1 NH and received information to call for additional services
• 30 interacted with the Mental Health Center of Greater Manchester
• 12 were helped with budgeting/financial services
• 44 Volunteers helped to implement event and assist consumers
