
William S. Green Lifetime Achievement Award Presented to Kimon S. Zachos

The William S. Green Lifetime Achievement Award was established in 1989 to honor Bill
Green's lifetime of service to United Way and to the Greater Manchester community.
Bill Green was one of the founding partners of Sheehan Phinney Bass + Green PA who
passed away in 2007.
This is the most prestigious award given by Heritage United Way.
To receive the award, an individual and/or family must demonstrate a long-term history
of volunteer service to the United Way and/or the Health and Human Service field.
The person must also demonstrate leadership by actual personal voluntary service and
motivating and inspiring others to serve.
Kimon S. Zachos is the senior shareholder of Sheehan Phinney Bass + Green PA.
Kimon’s practice encompasses corporate, banking and estate planning law. In addition
to a legal career which spans fifty-five years, Kimon also has dedicated his personal
time to the State of New Hampshire and to countless business, civic and cultural
organizations. He is a New Hampshire native and was graduated from Weslyan University
and NYU Law School where he was a Root Tilden Scholar. He remains an active alumnus
of both institutions.
Kimon was selected as a member of the first class of White House Fellows and served
during the Johnson Administration in the office of U.S. Attorney General Nicholas
Katzenbach. He has been active in the White House Fellows Association ever since.
He has been awarded honorary degrees by Southern New Hampshire University and
St. Anselm College.
Kimon was a member of the New Hampshire legislature from Manchester and served as
Deputy Speaker. In addition, he has served a number of state administrations as a
member of various task forces and commissions, and currently serves on the Legislative
Ethics Committee. He has served as a delegate to a number of Republican National
Conventions and has been active in many political campaigns throughout his career.
Well known for his leadership and philanthropy, Kimon is a Director of Hitchiner
Manufacturing Company and a former Director of New England Telephone Company,
Merchants Bank, First NH Bank, the Bank of Ireland and Citizens Bank. He is a
Trustee and Past President of the Board of the Currier Museum of Art, a Trustee
of Southern New Hampshire University, a former Director and Chairman of the
New Hampshire Charitable Fund, a Trustee of Endowment Funds and former Director
of Havenwood Heritage Heights Retirement Community, a Trustee of Trust Funds of
St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, and a former Trustee and President of the
Manchester YMCA. He also serves as a member of the Greater Manchester Hellenic
Scholarship Committee, and as a Director for the New Hampshire Center for
Public Policy Studies. He has also been a loyal supporter of United Way since 1957.
Kimon and his wife Anne are the proud parents of Ellen, Elizabeth and Sarah,
and have five grandsons.
